Aubree Dale

My interests live in exploration of absurd and messy human narratives. Combing the expectations of an

individual within our large, modern social networks, I strive to create complex, maximalist ecosystems.

These take shape as poorly rendered, unbalanced worlds by way of painting, sculpture & installation and

performance. Materials hard and soft give way to transparent billowy layers, obsessive mark making and

object manipulation.

My paintings and digital works tend to be complex records of memory, anxiety and wish. Much of my

sculpture and installation is transitional. In addition to working with steel and copper, I source banal

pieces of refuse and have been fabricating homemade bioplastics to develop over-engineered chattels

and places held to the trappings of time. Online and in person performance pieces are a new element to

my work that can entangle and extend storylines. I find them to be incredibly informative as they are

paving the way to new concepts and work.
